Our Instructors

Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Taekwondo and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.

Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of Australian Martial Arts & Fitness Academy instructors and other staff members.

Ridvan Manav (Master) 

 Master Ridvan Manav is a 8th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hapkido. His awesome speed and incredible flexibility have given him and his Academy's the reputation as the "Speed & Flexibility Specialists."

Master Ridvan Manav established Australian Martial Arts and Fitness Academy in Marrickville in Feb 1982. Since then he has opened Centres in Casula, Auburn, Eastlakes and Bonnyrigg. Australian Martial Arts & Fitness Academy has produced champions in life and as well as in the martial arts.

Master Ridvan was 10 years old when he started Judo in Newtown Police Boys Club. He trained for two years and then took up Boxing at Redfern Police Boys Club. He was 13 years old when he saw his first Bruce Lee movie. From that point on, he became fanatical about Martial Arts. As a kid he also learnt Karate. Although that initial drive has taken Ridvan to the farthest limits of combative excellence, his mastery extends beyond fighting and into the realm of life.

Master Ridvan Manav in the 1980's won Numerous state, National and International competitions. In the 1990's Australian Martial Arts & Fitness Academy was the Number One Demonstration team. The Australian Demo Team X-treme Performed at the Opera house, Super Dome, Fox Studios and Bondi Beach to name a few. Master Ridvan was selected to coach the Australian National Team at the World Taekwondo Championships.

Master Ridvan Manav has travelled the world training in different styles of Martial Arts with other masters, seeking to learn and teach the best and most effective Martial Arts to his students. Master Ridvan Manav has trained in the following Martial Arts styles: Hapkido, Compliance Direction Takedown, Grappling, Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Thai Boxing, Kick Boxing, Pressure Points, Weapons, Karate, Ultimate Fighting Challenge, Judo, Extreme Martial Arts

Hakan Manav ( Head Instructor) 

 Hakan is a 5th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and a World Martial Arts Champion. He has been training in the Martial Arts for Over 20 years. Hakan is 2 time NASKA World Champion. He was a former member of the Australian Taekwondo Team who travelled the World Competing and is a 3 time National Taekwondo Sparring Champion. Hakan was invited to the USA to complete a 5 Volume Martial Arts Instructional DVD Series titled “Modern & Creative Kicks” produced by Century Martial Arts (The Worlds Largest Martial Arts Supply Company) . In 2011 Hakan was inducted into the ISKA Martial Arts Hall Of Fame as the Sportsman of the Year. In the same year he was awarded the “Most Inspiring Instructor Award’ by EFC  Black Belt Schools. Hakan is in high demand for Seminars and Live performances around the world.

He is the founder of the X-Treme Karate Kidz” which is a Performance based Martial Arts team that have reached the finals of Australias Got Talent (Channel 7), Performed on other TV Programs such as the; Morning show with Kerri-Anne (Channel 9) on two separate occasions, Saturday Disney(Channel 7) , Weekend Sunrise (Channel 7). Hakan has also Performed on The X-Factor (Channel 7).

Hakan conducts Seminars, Camps and Private Tuition. Hakan is a University graduate with a Degree in a Bachelor of Commerce double majoring in Finance and Management, from the University of Sydney. Upon finishing his HSC (Higher School Certificate) Hakan received a score of 99.25

Hakan is a popular and well-respected instructor who brings out the best in his students. His extensive knowledge, experience and achievements in the Martial Arts industry gives him the ability to teach at any level.

Sarah Perkins (Head Instructor) 

Sarah is a Taekwondo 4th Degree Black Belt with over 17 years experience. She has won numerous NSW and Australian chamionships. Sarah's collection of gold medals is impressive with a gold medal achieved at the following international events; Korean Open, Malaysian Open, Chung Do Kwan Asia Pacific Championships and South Pacific Championships (sparring).


Sarah's has been fundamental in developing the specialty children's programs of the Lil' Dragons and Dragons classes. She loves the challenge of teaching Taekwondo to all different age groups including her young students, mums, dads and everyone in between. Sarah is an Exercise Scientist and Dietitian, whose expertise is valued by club members. With her high achievements here in Australia and around the world, Sarah brings out the best in her students. Her knowledge and experience are invaluable.

busra

Busra Manav (Head Instructor)

Busra is a 4th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. She has been training Taekwondo for 15 years. She is an instructor in the Lil' Dragons and also plays a major role in the Australian Taekwondo Demo X-treme. Busra has won numerous state titles over her years of experience in the field.

Jessica Guida

Jessica is an instructor in the Lil' Dragons and Dragons programs. Jessica's positive attitude is a valuable asset to our club, always making kids feel welcome and her high kicks and strong technique enthuse her students to work to their full capability. Jessica was hand picked, by our master, at a yellow belt level to be a candidate for an instructor due to her; great nature, positive attitude and ability complete any task set with absolute proficiency. Jessica achieved her black belt   highlighting our "Black Belt philosophy" and illustrating to our students the importance of setting and achieving goals. This signifies how our club is able to grow and strive through our community involvement and most importantly the dedication and loyalty of our valuable members.

Andjelina Blagojevic

Andjelina is an instructor in the Lil' Dragon's and Dragon's programs. She is a valuable member of the team and is always happy to help.

Catherine Petrakis

Catherine has been practicing Taekwondo since she was 4 and has won numerous titles. She has won the Australian Martial Arts Championships 6 years in a row. She is a thirdfdegree black belt and is one of our youngest assistant instructors. She is the captain of the Black Belt Demonstration Team, performing all over the country. She always acts with a maturity beyond her years which makes her an ideal role model for her students.

Maddie Haul-brook 

Maddie is a First Dan Black Belt who has the best manner about her and who the kids love to teach them. Maddie makes class fun, all while making sure each one of her students learns something new. Maddie has a background in trapeze which helps with many agility moves.

Richard Yuwono 

Richard has been instructing adults and children for over 4 years with Australian Martial Arts. Richard has been training in martial arts for more than 8 years. He specliaises in breaking down techniques for people of all ages and making classes lots of fun.

Casula, Bonnyrigg and Eastlakes Instructors

Ercan Kocak

Ercan has been training Taekwondo for the past 20 years. He is one of the earliest students of the Australian Martial Arts Academy, earning his spot as the head of the Australian Martial Arts Demo team X-treme. Ercan also represented the Australian Taekwondo tournament team for over 10 years. He has been teaching for over 8 years at our eastlakes branch and has thus trained many state and national champions.

Erkan Aydin (Head Instructor)

Erkan is a 4th Dan in Taekwondo with over 20 years industry experience. The multi-talented instructor is mentored by 8th Dan Grand Master Ridvan Manav. Erkan has won Championships in numerous competitions including the Asian and Pacific Taekwondo Championship's. He has also been involved with many training program in Asia and Europe including training with the 2011 Turkish, German and Austrian World Championship teams. Erkan from the age of 8 has been mentored and trained by international recognised coaches and mentors. His numerous professional sporting backgrounds give him the edge as one of the finest athletes and mentors in the Sport. 

The Instructors at the Australian Taekwondo & Fitness Academy are all mentored and trained by Head Instructor Erkan Aydin. The Instructors have experienced years of intense and competitive Instructor courses including Coaching, Fitness and Senior First Aid Courses. A large number of our staff members are NSW, Interstate Champions and Australian National Champions. The team is a valuable force within the Martial Arts and broader communities.

 

Emrah Aydin 

Emrah is a 3rd Degree Black Belt with 14 Years experience in Taekwondo. Emrah has been teaching at Bonnyrigg and Casula for 7 years.

Irma Alic 

Irma specialises with the Little Dragons program at the Casula Branch. She is a Gold medallist in both State and National level.
