Tai Chi

THE TAI CHI LOGO

The Tai Chi for health program was designed to promote health and wellbeing, especially for people suffering from arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, back pain and those in rehabilitation.  Although the program focuses on the needs of people with these health issues, it is also suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. The program is especially calibrated for people in middle or older age who have some limitations of movement and flexibility, including those the knee and joint pain, back pain and reduced energy levels.

The style of Tai Chi is predominately Sun style. This is often referred to as the “stepping” style, and is characterised by gentle postures and follow up steps after advances and retreats. Although the style is gentler and can be performed in less a demanding mode, it is still a complete martial art and can be used as an effective form of self-defence.

The Tai Chi for health program offers a number of important benefits to practitioners, including:

a. Increased flexibility and reduction of joint pain and swelling and back pain

b. Increased balance and lower body strength and reduction in fall risk

c. Improved cardiovascular fitness, improved overall body power

d. Reduced stress and improvements in mental health

The style can be practiced at home with no additional equipment or apparatus.

The Tai Chi Program is run by Head Instructor Mark Loughran and Instructor David Dight.  It is suitable for all ages and all levels of experience.  For more information or to book in for a free trial lesson, please CONTACT US.
