Phu Khong

Shifu Phu is a 5th Degree Red Sash (Master rank) in Yi Quan Kung Fu. He has been training in the Martial Arts for over 15 years in various styles, but Kung Fu has been his biggest passion and focus. He is deeply passionate about teaching students of all ages and takes great pride in seeing them grow with confidence and skills.

Inspired to take up Martial Arts after watching classic Kung Fu movies starring famous Martial Artist such as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Donnie Yen. Wanting to become just like his idol, Shifu Phu learnt that Martial Arts is more than just being able to throw awesome kicks and punches, but it teaches one to become discipline, focus and using your skills and knowledge to help others.

Shifu Phu has been the recipient of the Nai Xin Award in 2012, 2014 and 2017. This prestigious award recognises the exemplary display and embodiment of the 5 highly regarded virtues in Yi Quan Kung Fu; Patience, Perseverance, Kindness, Understanding and Humility.

He has also competed in many state and national tournament circuits in Australia, such as ISKA and AMAC. His greatest achievement was placing 1st in the NSW state title for Showmanship in 2015 for both AMAC & ISKA circuit. He loves to perform and demonstrate the style of Yi Quan, being the leader of the Kung Fu Demonstration Team for many years. His love of performing has led him on to feature on a reality tv show called ‘reality action star’, and also have been on Saturday Disney showcasing Kung Fu for the youth.

When not teaching and training, his other interest includes soccer, basketball, watching classic Kung Fu movies and outdoor activities such as obstacle course challenges, motorbike riding and hiking.
